I really wish I could help you, but I too waas an overweight 14 year old. Now I'm a overweight 17 year old. I've been on a diet about 8 times, and I've only lost about five pounds once. Its hard doing it by yourself, so if possible GET SUPPORT!!! If I can give you any advice at all, its GET SUPPORT!!! I don't have any. But things always seem to get a little easier, when you have someone at your side, encouraging you to keep going. My mom refuses to help me at all, even though she's also overweight. If I ask her to buy healthier food she always gives me excuses, and I swear she sabotages me on purpose. But hopefully you're much more fortunate than I am. Good luck anyway!

You can't lose weight fast; well, you could, but it's not healthy. The best thing to do is lose it gradually. To lose weight, all you need are a good pair of walking shoes because walking is a great form of exercise. During the summer, walk only in the early morning hours or the late evening because it gets hot in the middle of the day.

Or why not swim laps at the local pool? All you need are a pair of goggles, a swim cap, and a pair of earplugs....and a bathing suit. Swimming burns 3X the calories that walking and working out at the gym would do....but don't brush those off. If you have a gym membership, take full advantage of the personal training stuff. And the best thing is to do a low-impact exercise longer than a high-impact exercise shorter because doing the low impact one longer will burn more calories.

Eating right is also important. Talk to your parents or to whoever buys the groceries to start buying healthier foods. When you do go to the supermarket or whatever, NEVER GO HUNGRY because that's when you can pick up snacks and stuff. Eat before you go grocery shopping. Eat moderately, snack on the right stuff, and keep it under 2,000 calories (or whatever your doctor tells you to do) a day. NO FAST FOOD.....maybe once in a long while but DO NOT EAT IT on a regular basis. Look what it did to Morgan Spurlock in the movie "Super Size Me."

I don't do this but it might help to keep note of a food diary of what you had eaten every day. And check in with your doctor periodically to make sure you're losing weight the right way.

I'm enclosing a website that might be of help to you. But don't take it as gospel; only as a guideline.

And remember, don't take diet pills. They can be dangerous and sometimes they can make you sick because of certain ingredients in them. Even if they don't contain ephedra, they can dangerously raise your heart rate.

Don't starve yourself. That can actually keep calories rather than burn them off. Don't vomit, either. That can damage your esophagus and your mouth with the constant contact of stomach acid.

Good luck and I hope you do well. And I'll pray for you, too.

The best way to lose weight is to control yourself. You just said that you overeat and that's the problem. Calories are calories, if you eat too many of them, no matter what the food is, you're going to get fat or stay fat. If you really want to lose weight, like I believe you do, you must start eating smaller portions. For example, when you eat a piece of meat, it shouldn't be any bigger than the size of your palm, not a the size of your forearm. You can also try drinking a big glass of water before every meal. It will help fill you up so you won't eat as much. And I know you've heard that exercise is a good thing, right? It really is. Even if you just walk, it's better than nothing. Challenge yourself! See how much exercise you're capable of now and beat it by next week. You can do it! Just to make sure that your weight isn't due to a medical problem, like your thyroid, you should see your pediatrician and discuss your concerns.

Slim fast. And have you tried weight lifting? Building muscle increases your metabolism and you'll lose weight.
