im thinking about getting a GLOCK handgun, what cal. should i get the 17, which is 9mm, or the G22 which is .40 cal, i want real sugestions not just, "well 9mm shells are cheaper so get that"

I think you should go to a shooting range with gun rentals and test various calibers before you buy one. A .45 isnt effective if you can only get 1 shot off and can't recover from the recoil to engage with a follow-up shot. "the bigger the hole, the better" days are over.

What will it be used for? If you can hunt with the .40 cal. then get that or if just for safety of yourself and family the 9mm is a good hand gun. It can be used by almost any member of the family.
Both have the good and bad with them.

just get a 45 semi autos don't kick that much and if you have to use it you can do that with confidence of all my guns the 45 is the biggest hit with everyone from my teenage daughter and her friends to my friends and the marines i know love it to but i have a colt i've shot glock's and don't have anything against them i just like my colt better anyone that thinks they need 15 shots in a hand gun is misinformed unless its a duty weapon cause if you need more they 3 you're probably in over your head any way most gun fights in the civilian world are short if you don't already know guns well you might be better off with a revolver

40 cal has more killing power.
