I don't think that having a traumatic experience in the past should have anything to do with being shallow. Someone is shallow if they only go for certain looking men or women for example: skinny instead of thick, long hair instead of short, looks before personality. I think that you should look past that experience and look forward to newer exciting ones.

Does the traumatic experience cause you only to be attracted to men who are cute, or have money, or a nice car, or have power? If this is the case then yes you are definitely shallow.

People who love only once in their lives are ... shallow people. What they call their loyalty, and their fidelity, I call either the lethargy of custom or their lack of imagination. Faithfulness is to the emotional life what consistency is to the life of the intellect—simply a confession of failures.
Is your lack of attraction for "one type of guy/girl" due to a traumatic experience reasonable (ie. the individual's personal(ity) type)?
Reason this: If you touch a hot stove and are burned ...will you stop cooking? What would be reasonable?
Get a new stove or try to be more careful? ...either way you'll probably get burned a time or two more no matter what brand of stove your using.

That is actually called emotional/psychological trauma. Sadly because of our experiences in life, there are many walls and blocks we set before ourselves. The positive. Whether it is humans, animals, or obstacles in our lives, they can be overcome if you want it bad enough. Identify the fear factors. If you can't get control of them they will control you. If after identifying what is causing your problem, you still feel that allllllllllllll mennnnn or alllllllll women must be a certain way, or based upon race everyoneeeeeee must be that way..... Consider getting help to show you a different view point. Shallow... NO Blinded... Perhaps.

It's ok not to be attracted to someone. I don't think you can be REALLY shallow unless you dont like anyone but the hottest girls/guys and don't care about the rest. Trust me I should know because I've met one guy who REALLY is shallow.
