The fumes from non-stick cookware, and even some appliances like toaster ovens or hair dryers which have non-stick coatings, are toxic to birds. They don't have to be overheated or burning in order to emit these fumes. Anywhere in the house would be dangerous. The bird can be in the living room, just use stainless steel cookware and check all appliances for non-stick or teflon coatings. Birds are also very sensitive to other fumes, and burning candles can be deadly as well.
