My significant other is sitting on the couch telling me he dusted the tv. Earlier he told me he cleaned the bathtub and sink. Does he think I'm going to give him a medal? I don't tell him all I've done.

Hello, Della you are wrong here. Your significant others told you that for the sake of making you happy knowing that you just came in after long hectic day. Didn't you? So he meant, you need not worry about all these extra household chores in the house today coz he already managed them. Most Men, including myself I do it quite often but it doesn't mean for the "Medal" but to show our Love to our loving ones and that's how we care and that's how men sometimes express our love.Oh God! why is it so hard for women to undestand men ?? Now, give him a rewarding kiss. "Love and beloved" Peace.

Just acknowledge his accomplishments . Men, myself included, don't talk like women. Women talk and Men report. I could tell you it is a trait left over from cave man days. Thats the reason why women are better at communicating than men (for the most part). Men have a difficult time "talking". By the way I do quite a bit of the house work and I work @ 55 hours a week. I don't want a medal. It is part of being a grown up.

Here we go with the Rah-Rah women crap! I'm sure you do sooo much more than him, as does every woman on the planet, and now you've shared that with everyone. Why do women feel the need to brag to their friends and the world about how much more they THINK they do than their men at home? You're right, we're a bunch of lazy bastards, and we should all get down on our knees and thank the Lord that your species exists, because without you, we couldn't survive. You ever wonder why, if men do soooo little and women have to always do their share of the work and ours, why women tend to live 4 to 6 years on average longer than men?? Could it be in part due to the type of work generally done by men verses women? Try working in a machine shop. Try doing a construction job. Try doing any of these manual labor jobs that, with some exceptions but by and large, are held by men and you'll see that folding the towels ain't so bad.

that depends, does he go out and work 10 hours a day while you stay at home to do housework, if you go out and work 8 or 10 hours a day, then the work should be split up, like for example, he would do outside lawn work, car repairs, home repairs, things like that, and you would do housework... give or take some becuase it depends on how much work of either there is to do, so sometimes he might be proud to do some housework, and you might be proud if you trimmed the hedges or changed the oil in car................ and jeff foxworthy has some stupid jokes.that's completely not true.

No he doesnt think your going to give him a medal, but he does want to show you that he does stuff around the house. House work being done by a guy and him telling you about it means he wants you to know he cares and did something you normally would have done. Either that or he is mad that he had to do it.

You are completely right, Dellajoy. My significant other does the same thing. Does he want a cookie?

I do the laundry, pay most of the bills. Cook the food, do the dishes, on and on. When he vacuums every 3 weeks it's like human martyr time.

Give me a break...right?

But......they love us. Ahhhh the great equalizer, y'know?

Cause for 95% of men: it a rare thing to do some housework! When you go on vacation, you tell everybody where you've gone and what you did: cause you're not in vacation 99% of the year.

Same thing applies here!

No, he is looking for approval.
It is something new he is doing and just like a child he needs to know it was the right thing to do.
My wife used the same on me.
Now I just do things around the house but don't make a big deal of it.
Unless I make a mistake.

Aww, give the guy a break. He's just trying to let you know that he's trying. I know that usually by way of comparison it's not much, but it's more than some guys do. So give him a little pat on the back and maybe he'll do more next time.
