Does Yahoo have a mechanism to prevent scams?

I used Craigslist to try to buy a car. I received 2 offers on 2 different cars 2 days apart, and the sender was using a Yahoo address. The scam was that I could buy but the car were in Europe, and an intermediary would handle the finances. I have copies of the communications.

You can report then to Yahoo, and they may cancel the accounts, but seeing as it is so easy to open a new account, it most likely will do no good!

Obviously not. I still get scam offers all the time and many of them have "@yahoo.com" at the end of the email.
