I just recently got married. My husband is quite wealthy, and I am very attractive. I love my husband to death, because before we started to be intimate we were friends for 7 years. When my husband is sad I am sad with him and I hold him till he feels better. Some people who marry for money, the marriage is loveless and weak. I married for love and the money is a bonus. I am constantly asked, "if he wasn't so wealthy or if he was to lose everything would you still be with him?" My answer is, my marriage vows are very important to me, I made that commitment to him and also in front of our families and friends. I stay true to the vows.

If I had to "afford" someone I'd not be in it anymore to begin with.

I know the sociological answer- about mating and propagation of the species- and if we REDUCE it to as simplified as it can get, this can sort of be a trend, but only in WESTERNIZED and MODERN cultures. Which says one thing immediately- it's NOT innate, but a cultural thing, and most likely superficially status based, within that culture.
I.E. seems very shallow to me.

The quality of the relationship seems to be a real indicator of the success it might have- so even superficial arrangements like the above sometimes can evolve- or even the people can evolve over time to have deeper values.

In the end there IS a difference in a general way what "attractive" means to the different sexes, that follows trends. This can be a bit of a trend in some places and circles, but no real evidence to say it is normal or even highly typical at all.

That's a bit cynical.

I married the first time out of a perverted sense of responsibility toward our daughter and was divorced shortly after our second anniversary. The second time, it took us 13 years and we married on April Fool's Day (which is also my ex-husband's birthday), but it was all for love. Besides, we already had two children together and one on the way which happened to born a month after we married!

For the guys attractive (size of chest, and AGE) are more of a decision maker than they want to admit.

With woman, we are less consistently shallow, although we certainly have our moments!

Nope--- I am dating and planning to marry a guy who is and will be dirt poor (a dance teacher) and I have had plenty of offers from millionaires and other rich kids. I am in it for love-- and so are my friends.

My psych professor said that wealthy men are more likely to put more emphasis on looks, middle income men are interested in looks and personality, and poorer men put looks last.

He also said that the "bad girls" marry the "loser guys"

no...
maybe it is true for some. but it definately is not true for the average person.
if you know someone who believes this is true and is how one should pick a lifetime mate....then i would say they are very superficial..and will also get a divorce soon after they get married.
wish them luck.
