It's not that addicting actually. If you drink too much, it basically stops "waking" you up mentally and gives you headaches instead. That's what is happening to me. But you could become dependent on it for other reasons. Like, it's actually the best laxative I've ever found, so I take it for that reason. And that's why I'm not willing to give it up yet, until I find a healthier alternative. Heh. Just try and drink it like every other day or something.

Well, I know Starbucks is great, but think about how much a Latte costs ($3-$4) and realize how much that adds up to in a week or month if you go there every day or even a couple times a week. If you like coffee so much, I would recommend getting your own machine and making it at home with your own flavors. Otherwise, it's not too terribly bad to be addicted to coffee as long as you don't drink more than 3 cups a day.

I love coffee. I went to my local small batch roaster and got my fresh roasted beans that are fair trade and shade grown. I gave up on the big chains and make my coffe a cup at a time and save boat-loads of money. My habit was $3.50 a day and now its $16.99 a month. I no longer drink the crap that they have at work. I used to drink all morning and then some. Now my A.M. fix gets me through the day with better taste and helping the local business man (I've been a customer for almost 15 years). Plus I know where he gets his beans. Check him out if you want. He has an excelent choice of coffee's and the St. Helena is very rare and wonderful.

You may already be addicted. Many people are. If you get a headache by about mid-day or so if you don't enjoy a cup in the morning you may be addicted. Anyway, you can just cut back slow or just drink coffee every other day or something. But why would you want to?

Why would you want to? If one must have a vice, coffee is among the most innocuous. My day is not complete without a huge cup of gourmet quality coffee. My current favorite is Starbuck's Yukon, but Bad A s s Coffee and Duncan Doughnuts give it a run for the money.

Coffee is addictive, but recent research indicates that drinking coffee can have health benefits, particularly because of antioxidants. It is important to be careful about not drinking so much coffee that it makes you jittery or keeps you from sleeping. Also if you put a lot of sugar and cream in your coffee, that could offset some of the health benefits. (I drink mine black, unsweetened, and half decaf so I can enjoy several cups without getting jittery.)

I don't think it's the coffee that is addictive, it's the caffeine. Try limiting your caffeine intake to two servings per day.
When I was pregnant, the doctors told me that having two sodas, or two coffee's per day would not harm the baby. So if the intake is minimal, I suppose there wouldn't be an addiction

Let me try and make this easy on you.
I know that my granddad was a coffee addict. So is my dad. So am I. This addiction is so so better than many other addictions. If you really really want to reduce, reduce it to 3 cups a day. But any lesser... Not good!!!

Pay attention.
Caffeine is the drug of our time...increase our concentration.
Also cocaine is a powerful drug of our time (speed matters) but it is more dangerous and obiuvsly it is forbidden.
There are few studies about caffeine effects on large sample of population.
Go to PUBMED a site read by physician and medicine student.
Select Pubmed (not mesh) on the left and write CAFFEINE AND ADDICTION...you will see a lot of articles.
Caffeine is an alcaloid...diuretic and vasoconstrictive...this means that could be dangerous in some cases..

I was sooooo addicted to a cappuchino from starbuck's , I had to have it every day, until one day I realized it was a waste of money, my kids even got me a cappuchino maker machine, so I decided it was time to stop...sometimes I pass by a Starbuck's I still have the desire of having one....but I know that If I get one...that's the end of the abstinence!!...It's sssoooo addictive!!
My advice...well, you don't have to stop drink it at all just have one cup a day.
