i think golden dawn and the rosecrucians are on to something. i would say that hermetic magick is definitely something you should check out. i hate labels tho, and refuse to have one except for "pagan" which is ill fitting at best. it's funny, but the more religions i study, the more things seem to come together in one great picture, and answers become more prevalent.
i think there are pieces of truth contained in all religions. whatever you do, don't cofine yourself. go and search!

I have looked into it. It certainly has some interesting aspects - like the tree of life and the Kabbalistic angle. However I would say if you seriously want to practice in a Western esoteric tradition check out The Fourth Way, the teaching of G I Gurdjieff and his succesors. To begin try reading In Search of the Miraculous by P D Ouspensky, if it appeals then theres a host of material on the web that is great. Don't start there though or you may not make sense of everything.

I have, the very beginners' stuff does not get very interesting results. I would suggest starting with the Greater Banishing Ritual instead of the LBRP, as it has more power and interest in my opinion.

i dont know what the golden dawn is so i dont know if i practise it. i might be without realising it.
