If he's OUT he won't mind you asking. If he's not he'll be act surprised or offended and act like you are crazy cuz he's in denial.
That's been my experience and I still don't know how to answer the question. But if you are not gay, why do you ask? Leave him be.

Ask him! Thats the best and easiest thing you can do. If your friend is, they are most likely happy to talk about it honestly with you.

Why don't you ask him directly?
If he is acting like he is, hitting on you, then, he might be. If you are not interested, let him know politely. If you are interested, good luck to you both!

It's hard to say because he could be bi. That would be really hard to tell. But just see if you catch him looking at guys. Or other signs would be maybe his mannerisms.
