If you buy the retail version of a processor, it will come with a fan and heatsink (plus thermal pad or thermal paste). BUT, usually stock cooling solutions aren't so great and for overclocking you really do need an aftermarket product,

Socket 775 fans and heatsinks, http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1588&Nav=|c:493|&Sort=3&Recs=10

Socket 775 Liquid cooling (I have liquid cooling on my Athlon 64x2 3800+ and have pushed it way past the red line without any problems), http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/category/category_slc.asp?CatId=1871&Nav=|c:499|&Sort=3&Recs=10

The heatsink/fan and liquid cooling unit will come with the appropriate mounting hardware, don't need to worry about that.

You need a heatsink/fan that works with a Socket 775 Intel CPU. No additional mounting required. The socket has a ZIF (zero insertion force) lever. Just place the CPU in as instructed then pull down the lever to clamp it down.

Important: If the heatsink doesn't come with it's own thermal paste or a sticker on the bottom with glue, then you need to buy that as well. Most heatsink/fan combos come with it now, but not all.

The micro processor manufacturer should state the heat sink requirements for the processor. The mother board may also have the requirements in its manual
