when i turn of the receiver in the morning go to work and i get back in the evening the thing is hot as if was been used during the day. and no one was using it.andi now realize electric bill has increased sowe what. so i was wondering if i should plug it out when i am not using it.

It doesn't use much power when plugged in, but turned off. When turned on, it uses about 20 watts - about as much as a desk lamp. Almost all electronics that can be turned on by remote control use some power all the time while plugged in. It keeps the remote control circuitry active all the time. This idle power is very low <1W.

I'd leave it plugged in, but only turned on while in use.

Take a look at the label on the back of your tv receiver. Ten times figure that is more realistic.
