If you found the dog at a dog park, chances are it's because it's owners took it to the dog park so that it could run around a little bit.
You might want to put some signs up first of all letting people know you found a dog and hopefully you didn't take someone's little friend while they went to fetch a stick.

As far as getting your dog to calm down, some times dogs calm down on their own after they develope a kind of pecking order, and some times dogs just want to be the only dog in the house and there is nothing you can do about it.

It's not a matter of feeling loved or not loves, dogs are pack animals and they always have a leader. Your dog is just trying to be the leader.

1. Find out if the dog actually has another Owner. I would suggest it might.
2. If you keep the dog, best that the dogs meet on neutral ground, away from your home, = maybe back at the dog park, then walk them home together.
3. If you dog just doesn't like other dogs, and you want to keep the new dog, then consult a dog behaviorist.
4. Sometimes the nipping is just your dogs way of saying he is boss, just don't let it get out of hand.
5. Reassure your dog of your love by praising him when he treats the other dog positively.

As an owner of 7 and foster parent to 3 more right now, I have had people shake their heads at me. Who cares? All of my dogs are well-cared for and happy. Just ignore people like that. I would like to point out that PetSmart sells a very good quality grain-free diet from Blue Buffalo. They will also be carrying Wellness in the fall. Have you ever been in a PetSmart? And EVO was purchased by P&G-mmm...... LOL-my girlfriend has three kids under 4 and four dogs! Now that's crazy!

Sounds like a tough situation, because if you show the new dog too much love, your dog will get jealous. Perhaps you should leave them alone, but watch from a distance to make sure they don't hurt each other. Allow your dog to accept the new one into the 'pack'. Your first dog will still get jealous, but it won't be as extreme once they get used to each other. You are a pack with your dog, as you are the leader that your dog looks up to.

Keeping them seperate is a very good idea. Maybe you can try to see if it is a lost dog. Put up found dog...jsut dont give details.

OYou should have walked into your house first with both dogs entering at the same time. This would have told both dogs you were the alpha and that they were equals.

You should spend equal amount of time with both of them. Theres really nothing else people can do about it. I had this happen to me once too. And we just gave it some time and not their closer then peas in a pod!
