Most are for the Los Angeles area, but there are some for areas. You also need to get an 8x10 headshot to send to Agents and bring to the casting calls. Alot of places won't see you unless you have an 8x10 headshot

if you are serious about acting, then get some acting classes is the first step.
then you need an agent who will represent you. to get an agent you need to have some experience. doing courses with reputable acting schools and top casting agents in your capital city will assist you with this.
your acting school (find a good one) can help you with this process.
next, find a casting agent that runs classes on acting and join the class.
the only way to get work in film and television is to get seen and known by the casting agents, and to have an agent (which is who the casting agent contacts when they want someone for a show).
if you are interested in live theatre, then find a local theatre group and join them. you may have to audition a number of times, and be prepared to work behind the scenes first, painting scenery, moving props etc.
another option is to find an extras agency and get on set as an extra. this is not being the star, but being one of the many faces and bodies in the background of every film, commercial and show that is made. it is a fun way to meet people and be involved in the world of film and television work (often long boring days with much sitting around, being quiet and waiting for your "moment". it will give you an insight into this world and let you see if this is really what you want to do.
i hope this is of some assistance to you.

join a talent agency, they hook people up all the time. But I have to warn you from experience; even if you're only one pund overweight, or even a little under, they may not let you audition. It's happened; in a play audition in a big city, they didn't even let me sing because I was 2 pounds overweight. just tryin to help so you don't get crushed like I did. but things are better for me now, I've been in tons of plays and musicals. GOOD LUCK TO YOU!

Just search and search on the internet. I did join this website that had my profile for acting, modeling, singing. And you can post pictures and you acting resume. First they gave like a week free, and I was gonna cancel so they gave me another month free. But because of my schedule, I had to cancel. They charge $20 a month. And there's alot of casting calls on there. Some of them you have to apply there online and others are a open casting call.

Most TV and movie auditions are held where it's being shot, i.e. LA and New York.
If there's something going on in your town, they'll advertise it.
If there's a casting agency in your town, register with them.

I know that newspapers usually have a small blurb about the district's activities like acting. I'm totally with you on the love to act thing, cause my passion is acting. I usually get information from my school though.
