I've noticed that the great majority of the posts on here, especially those done by people who seem younger than 20, are full of spelling errors. I mean basic spelling errors.

Is this some new cool way to express yourself that I am unaware of? Or is the next generation just going to be really poorly educated?

sometimes it's simply the fact that they go online too much and get used to shorter edited versions of words. my friend uses the word ther for there, they're and their and when he's doing an essay, he uses there for all of those by accident because he's just used to that.
Oh and some people are better at math because you can't change that, but in english everything is on some sort of terms

one last thing:
"We swam in the river," is actually incorrect.
"We swum in the river," is the right one. It's grammer that's so difficult.

Most of the time people just get in too big of a hurry. Plus, with the English language being like it is, I think the smartest people are those that decided learning all the rules and ways to spell "right" would only stress them out and potentially take years off their lives. Example: "one" needs a W to be spelled like it sounds, and then you have "two" that doesn't need a W, but has one anyway. That is stupider than not knowing how to spell as far as I am concerned.

I've always been embarrassed by my poor spelling. Though I feel kind of lame when I have to use, I'm very grateful for spellcheck. Ooohhh look, they even have one here on Yahoo Answers.

ya. to the one who type about war. if our soldiers didn't stand tall for the country. we wouldn't need the money for teaching. we all would be blown away. think about that one. some of us have forgotten of 9/11. stand proud of our men and women let them know that you are proud and that their not wasting their time there. they want to do this. if our vets didn't fight for this country that they are so proud of. we would not be able to having the education that we take for grated. stand proud

You don't really have to know how to spell. You just need to be intelligent enough to click CHECK SPELLING. It amazes me that people can't/don't do that.

Schools are educating our children. They can identify every illegal drug known to mankind and every way possible to administer it. Why should they learn to spell?
