I’m feeling a little unstable in my faith right now. I go to church and read my Bible and pray all the time, but i still don't feel like i have as close a relationship with God and Jesus as i had about a month ago. I got back from a Christian summer camp where I worked as a councilor for a week and was a camper for another and i felt really close to God, but now that I’m home and there are so many distractions i feel lost, almost as if I’m not saved. I have prayed and asked Jesus to come into my life and change me and save me from an eternity apart from him, but I’m at a low now in my walk and i really need reassurance. Also besides prayer if anyone has a recommendation of passages in scripture that will be helpful please refer me to it. I love my lord and savior and i really want to be close to him. Also if there is anyone going through the same thing that i am I’d love to know that I’m not the only one. If there is anything that you all want me to pray for you for i will.
God Bless!

Don't worry! we are all going through ups and downs in our path with God...There is nothing to worry about, just keep on praying and reading the Bible. You know it's like when there's a big cloud hidding the sun. Would you say then, because you can't see the sun you'll never see it again? Or that it is drifting away from the earth?
i'd say it's normal that after a summer camp your faith is a little less "active". it's like cultural shock! you have to adapt to every day life again! and that's the big challenge!I've already lived this kind of feeling after a great weekend, finding hard to "adapt", I spend a lot of time watching TV and I pray less...Still, God is there, next to you...
It's getting hard for me to keep on writing (it's like 2.00 a.m in France) but if you need further help send me an e-mail, I'll be glad to share my faith with you.
Don't worry!
God Bless

This is a universal problem for Christians! Sometimes we can be on such a high especially after spending a lot of time with other seeking Christians. Then we have to go back and spend time with everybody who is struggling. These lows can be a great witness to non-believers around you! Everybody can tell you are depressed and your dependence and faith on your Savior shows them that you really have something you can depend on through good and bad. God is probably using this low period to reach out to others.

Make sure you spend regular time with other believers. I hold a women's bible study at my church on Wednesday evenings and it is like getting a little Holy Spirit refill halfway through the week. Try to find something like that! I would recommend reading the Gospel of John. It's focus is on what it is like to live in this world and on the personal loving relationship John had with Jesus. It will let you know that you are not the first person to struggle. Many great and famous believers have felt separated from God at times.

All of us Christians go through that, I remember when I was first baptized I became so over zealous, wanting to do right by God. That wears hard on you after a while because I did not have a close church family to fall back on. I went through the same thing, wondering where is my God. Well He was there all the time, you just have to find Him again. Keep doing what you are doing, read the Bible, go to church and let all your feelings of confusion be placed at His feet. He will not let you down, He will not let anyone of us down. God loves you and always will. I for one will keep you in my prayers.

I am not Christian, but I can tell you that people experience similar things in all spiritual paths. We all get caught up in how busy our lives are, I feel closer to God when I am meditating, but when it comes to the rest of the day, I feel so far from spiritual! It's perfectly normal to experience something like, especially just when you left a place that all you were required to do was serve, love, and learn about God.

God is always with you and has not abandoned you. Every once and a while just bow your head a pray -- maybe every time you hear a certain noise during the day, or everytime you use the ladies' room! Talk to God, feel Him in and around you. Know that God is always with you.

I would love to pray for you, but I doubt you would want that seeing as we follow differen't religious/spiritual paths. But know that my thoughts are with you and God is with you too!

edit:

I just want to compliment qtlover -- that really is a beautiful passage. Thank you for sharing it! (What translation Bible are you using?)

Personally I am considered Christian, but recently I have found out that no single religion will help anyone...What I mean is that there are people who sin all the time with no remorse and consider themselves the best and saved just by saying s/he is a "Christian" "Muslim" "Hindu" and so on...but if you are not spiritual then it wont help. God is not in a religion, he is within you and everywhere, in order to find him and be close to him you have to come to a higher understanding from inside. At your Christian camp it seemed that you were "seemed saved" because of your surrouding, to trully be saved you need to be satisfied without guidance. The best way to achieve it is to meditate (not saying that it's the only way), no one else can tell you what is best, by meditating God shows you directly--not coming from friends, preachers, gospels tv shows...You will find it, Sweety. I think at one point in time majority of Christians go through this.

And straightway the father of the child cried out, and said with tears, Lord, I believe; help thou mine unbelief. (mark 9:24)

We do really believe in him but we doubt some times. If your having some trouble hearing him and you uncertain remember this...

For God is not the author of confusion, but of peace, as in all churches of the saints. (1Cor 14:33)

Basically if it's confusing or uncertain then it's not of God.

I pray God gives you power, love and a sound mind. I pray that when you pray that you are able to come boldly before the throne of God and be able to decree and declare a new thing in your life and in the lives of those around you. I pray that you are able to cast your burdens to Jesus an take from his yoke since IT IS light. I pray you go in peace. :)

as christians, we need the feel of our Lord near us. but on purpose, He chooses to move distant from us to see how we react. do we really miss Him and feel lost? sometimes He appears to be gone when we are in a trial so we will petition harder and more earnestly. you see He loves the feeling of being needed and yearned for by us. did you ever petition or pray with your entire being? it's awesome! maybe He's bringing you to a higher level or you just have the "i'm missing the Holy Spirit blues" after all the christian activities involving the Spirit at camp. i get that way after bible school and worship service on sundays. i don't want to leave and go home, but i do and involve myself with witnessing and prayer. God bless and keep you.

Lord Jesus, I pray that You as this lady draws near to You, she will know your presence in her life once again. I pray that You will give her a hunger for the things of God like never before. I pray that as she reads and meditates on Your Word that her roots will go down deep in You. In Jesus Name I pray. Amen

We all go thru down times. Even Moses complained about God abandoning him. It will all come back. You're doing the best thing, sometimes you just have to be patient. Personally, and its different for everyone, but for me its a walk in the woods. There's nothing that brings me closer to Him than looking at His creation and marveling at it all.
