Keep in mind that all the thousands of flooded Katrina cars have been reconditioned and are "slightly used"...
If you are buying a 2006 car they still have new ones that they will sell cheaper than you can buy a used 2006. Just make them a lowball offer. Pick a dealer with a lot of 2006 cars on the lot.

Dear Southern,
Read the editor's and buyer's reviews on Edmunds. Site link below.
Don't recommend Ebay unless the seller is in your town and you can get there to inspect it. Do get a Carfax report on the car (some little $$, but it's worth it), although some used dealerships, such as Carmax, offer them free.
I lean towards the Mazda 6, Toyota, or Nissan, myself.

I would recommend the Camry if the mileage is less than 12K per year. Always run a CARFAX vehicle history report on used cars. Tells if the car has been in an accident.
www.carfax.com - i don't work for them

Forget E-BAY. Go with either the Toyota or the Nissan. The Nissan is more pleasing to the eye, and just as good a car.

Ditch Ebay and the Toyotas, Nissans, and Mazdas are all pretty tough (long lasting). What ever deal of those is the best would be the winner for me.

go for toyota or nissan...foreign cars are generally better when it comes to long time dependability. I think the Altimas are really cute.

My advise would be get the 17 digit vin off the windshield or ask the owner to give it to you and run it through carfax.com, so you won't get any surprises, I would not buy a car over the internet, be careful looks are deceiving...
