You need to make him understand that depression is a chemical imbalance and has nothing to do with anything other than that. Try going to www.webmd.com for some facts about depression to help support what you are saying to him.

Oh yes. Educate him about depression . Depression often times is not necessarily situational. It can be triggered by a chemical embalance in the brain and it can be corrected with medication.

I was seriously depressed. I went to counseling and I felt a little bit better, but the problem carried on. I then learned that I had a chemical embalance that was causing it.

Maybe if you get some books and pamphlets and let him read them and encourage him too he will feel better.

Tell him you think that you need some help. It's okay to have problems it's just that you need to work them out. If you don't take the time out to take care of it now it could later on develop into something else more serious.

I would suggest that you go through therapy first. Sometimes therapy will fix the depression on its own. If you end up taking medicine for your depression will could get stuck on that medicine for the rest of your life and live with the side effects for the rest of your life.

People confuse depression with emotional problems in their lives. Depression is a physical problem with your brain. It is no one's fault. You can't snap out of it and no one is to blame. Medication makes your brain work correctly again. It is so treatable. Don't suffer another day. Start with your family doctor if that makes you more comfortable. Then you can decide with your doctor if you need to see a therapist or just a little medication to get back on track. I have anxiety along with depression so going to a therapist helped me to understand the problem, work out some problems I was having with my teenage daughters and even some work problems. It has saved my life.

First of all, you are on the right path. I think you are very brave to admit that there is a problem and that you want to solve it. That is a major step. it might be a good idea to seek professional help and ask them how to talk to your husband. Perhaps, you could invite him to come to one of your counseling sessions and that might enlighten him as to what is causing your depression.
No matter what, you need to get some help so that you are feeling better. Find a way to find yourself.
Good luck and I think you are very brave to admit that you need help.

If your depressed how could he not know being your husband? In any case have him go to the doctor with you for the first visit and have them help explain it.

You need help, but also do some exercising on a regular basis as this raises the endorphins in the brain. And be silly every once in a while. Like me: Cluck Cluck!!!!!!!

Have him come with you to the psychiatrist and let the doctor help explain things to him. I am bi-polar (manic-depressive) and I have my hubby sit in during my doctor appointments with my psychiatrist so he can say what is on his mind (about my illness) but also so he can hear what the doctor has to say about it. Best of luck to you. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions about dealing with depression.

Just be honest is all I know....

Set the stage---light candles---pour the wine---get seductive---let him know it's all about him---that all you want to do is give understanding, revelation, and desire his compassion.

You have to [want] to be sincere to allow truth to come to the surface.

Now, if you two have already been tooth and nail about this, breathe, give it a day to cool down, then light the candles......

You have to let him know it's not him, and love will prevail if it's love. He will help you get the help you desire. Just be honest, it's all you have, really.

Be safe and take care
