WHAT ARE YOU SUPPOSED TO DO WHEN YOU KNOW PEOPLE ARE FIGHTING THEIR PITS AROUND HERe?

UGGHHH!!!!! I am SO ******** pissed off right now! While my friend and I were walking our two dogs, I overheard a kid ask my neighbors if they wanted to fight their dog, Haze, with /their/ dog... I screamed my lungs out and told him they don't need to be fighting pitbulls and that they're sick-minded pieces of sh.it! After we walked around the block, all the kids were gathered together and said (happily) that they're going to fight the pits! And so I got REALLY pissed off and I went after them. They're lucky I didn't catch them b/c I would have done to them what they do to the pitbulls... There were also two parents of the kids sitting outside talking to someone in a car and my friend overheard them saying that it's not our bisseness and if it was our pits, it wouldn't be their bussiness... Which is true, but that shows that they actually /do/ fight their pitbulls. I want to do something, but WHAT? I have no proof, and I can't do anything, but I KNOW they're doing that!

And I've ALWAYS had a feeling that people fight them around here and now it's confirmed... GOD! I'm pissed off! *cries* I LOVE dogs. I've been learning about them for 3 years and I can't stand pit fights... -___-

It is against the law. It can also put people in danger. 95% of all pit attacks are by dogs that owners do this kind of thing. Call the police, animal control, TV news teams and the ASPCA. Keep yelling at the top of you lungs till they do something about it. My nephew just help break up a bid dog fighting ring. These people were also taking bets, selling drugs and illegal guns. They had kids as young as 8 running drugs guns and bets. People who do this are not good people just having fun they are criminals and need to go to jail for a long time

I wouldn't dabble in their business, they might "conveniently" let one of those monsters off a leash next time your walking by. There are animal cruelty laws in a lot of states so the cops can get called on them. It's a quick way to make money for some people, some bet like $1500-$2000 on good dog fights or either the dog itself. For others its just a cheap form of entertainment. If you're really upset though, just ask some of the other neighbors if it bothers them and ask one of them to call the cops or Animal Control. If the dogs barking and howling goes on into the nighttime then you might have some proof that a fight is going on. But it's not worth you getting in an altercation over, that's the dog owners' business. When some of their prize fighters start getting killed or injured badly in those fights, they'll stop eventually.

As far as I understand, it is illegal to train an animal for fighting.... because said animal can, as a result, be a threat to human welfare. Do a search online to see if you can find any laws online about it... or, like one other person recommended, contact your local humane society and talk to someone there...

you'll probably end up calling the police, but would have to do it if you knew for sure that a fight was taking place... so that the officers would actually find them in the act. Just calling them and saying that someone TOLD you that they were going to fight their dogs doesn't mean they actually DID it.... and the police wouldn't have anything to stand on, you know?

Good luck. I'm not a big "dog person"... but I DO love animals, and think that utilizing an animal for such purposes is cruel and inhuman.

call the police, animal control and your local humane society! call them NOW or first thing in the morning. some cities don't have animal control officers on duty after 5pm. DO NOT leave it up to the police department to pass the information on to them. they might not do it. (as i've found from personal experience) you need to call all three agencies and make sure you've done everything you can.

shesorawinduval: ignoring the problem isn't going to fix it and it's really sad and disgusting you think that way. your thinking just let the dogs be fought and die.. then maybe their owners will stop. sick. you're definitely not part of the solution and i'd hate to have you as one of my neighbors. you'd probably watch people rob me blind and never say a word.

It's against the law, report it to the police and Animal humane society. Also call PETA. You are 15? Your use of English is kind of rude dude, use of proper english will get you taken seriously quicker that a string of cuss words. People using these words project a street wise low intelligence type of person unable to use proper words to express oneself in an educated way. Get out of this habit and you'll be alot more successful in life.

owe my god that story breaks my heart I have 4 pit-bulls and I hate fighting too!!! it gives the poor things bad reputation. well I would try to get pictures of the dogs after there done fighting but call the ASPCA or the humane society or just call the COPS!!!:) right away.

feel ya. now calm down. take a deep breath, keep the number to your local animal control, aspca, and police handy and call them, as often as you hear about it! In most places pit fighting is ILLEGAL! so as soon as you hear about it call the cops, give a location and don't be afraid to testify if you need to. and report those parents! (grr!)
your age won't matter....and if there is an issue, the police WILL tell you.

Call the cops because this is animal cruelty and is illegal!! You don't have to have proof. Police can do an investigation and can tell if there's been dog fights. Do not threaten to call the police to them, because they can cover the evidence. Do it now.

Everybody else is totally right - call the police and animal control. People who care about dogs can't sit back and do nothing.
