It's been about 3 months since I have been confirmed (as a Catholic) and near the time I had just confirmed I felt very into religion and listened to the music and felt really good about everything and really focused when I prayed, but then I felt a wave of depression while I was still in school. And now I feel "normal" again.. like i miss that feeling I had before.

I am still active in my church like usual but the feeling is not as great as before.

So is this just a spiritual high that crashes down with depression
(by the way do all types of "highs" result in depression?) or what else do you think it is?

Feelings are emotions, and we do have highs and lows in our emotions. Congratulations on your Confirmation! Along with the good times in life come hard times.. we call it 'the cross'. There is a saying that goes with the good times and the bad times - 'this too shall pass'.
There is something that is a high in the Holy Spirit, and it is wonderful! but it doesn't last here on earth.. when we get to heaven it will last. most of our lives here on earth are, as you call it, 'normal'. No, not all highs result in depression,,, but it is a kind of a let down when highs pass and we come down to 'normal'.

We can be like kids who get high on something, and they want 'more!" and finally it is time to stop, and we are very disappointed that it ended. 10 carmival rides and we want more but either dad says no,, or the boyfriend says he has no more money. We want chocolate,,, but we've had enough.

Be glad for your experience, and hang in there,,, there will be more 'highs' when it is time for them. Like treats,,, like signs,,, like moments of intimacy with God. Until our forever bliss with Him in Heaven.

Spiritual highs can crash and bring depression, I know Ive been there. My suggestion would be to not get THAT "high" spiritually until your walk is more steady. Once you have had time reading your Bible, studying God (not religion) talking alone with Him from your own heart (not a written out prayer) you will begin to feel that "high" more naturally and it wont cause you to crash. When we get a glimpse of God and His love, we get all emotional, but when we don't know how to carry it on throughout or lives, we crash and we feel less loved and depressed.

Id say most importantly, work on your personal private time with Him just as you would a new relationship. Learn what is true about HIM and you will draw closer.

Practicing your faith is called that for a reason. It takes a lifetime of prayer and helping others to think you understand it. And even then I am not sure that a person would feel "high" all the time.

But a part of practicing your faith is being silent and letting there be a space for God to enter. Have you tried that? It takes practice, at first I could only be quiet for a minute or two.

Also, reading books and prayer books can be helpful if you feel stuck. Try Henri Nouwen or Edwina Gateley. Or go on Amazon.com and bring up a list of prayer books to see what works for you.

Even the most devout Catholic Saints went through periods of spiritual dryness. These periods are what help us to grow in our love for God without leaning on the crutch of a spiritual high. Stick with the Church and eventually it will pass.

It could be that Satan has found something that he could use to turn your eyes off from Jesus (to some degree). This is a normal thing, Satan is not going to give up on anyone.

We need to grow in our love and worship of God. Set aside some time every day to just praise and thank Jesus for things. I know several people who have just started doing this and they are feeling much better about things.

Remember to ask Jesus for help with this!

God be with you.

yes this is normal, then you just need to start looking and reading to get that feeling again, remember, the devil is after you and you will have to fight him every day,so put on your armor and make him mad and play your music louder, read longer and the felling you are looking for comes back, and pray the devil hates when you pray,i pray out loud in my car or ill talk as if Jesus is sitting in the next seat,it sounds crazy but you will feel more in touch

I think Catholic Church is boring. They need to add music and clapping or something, and pass out knee pads

I wonder why you joined a CULT instead of becoming a True Christian.

I expect a so called friend introduced you.
