They are good to start,as is most cars.We own
one now that have almost 100K miles. We plan to sell soon.Problem will be getting parts in America.Few junk yards have any, parts stores
only carry basic:hoses, tune-up,etc. Starters,
rebuilt parts, etc will be very hard to get except
over the web or mail, and then if they don't work or break down, you'll have much hassle.
Also the parts will be very expensive. The car is
very nice except we ride in fear of when, not if,
something will break. If they are shipping into
your area and there are many on the road that
you notice, like Toyota or Honda, maybe you will
be OK.Later.

I have to differ from your other answers. I have an S-reg Daewoo Nubira that I've had for 3 years and by and large it's been very good. It always starts first time and though it lacks acceleration, once it's got going it's a nice smooth ride at speed. It passed its MOT this spring with flying colours - only needed a new bulb in the brake light. The only major problem I had with it was probably my own doing: I used it to transport a lot of heavy boxes, which buggered up the suspension and pushed the steering out of synch. This meant uneven pressure on the tyres, which rubbed bald spots on the front tyres, so when I tried to brake in the rain it kept going, to the surprise of myself and the unfortunate black cab in front of me! But as I say this was my own fault: by and large I'm very pleased with it and have never had such a reliable second-hand car. Dunno about prices though - try Googling for a second-hand car price website.

I have driven and travelled Korean cars (in Korea) on and off for 20 years. During that time I have a variety of Korean cars/taxis etc on a daily basis.

If you want a recommendation based on long experience of many diffferent cars then my recommendation is:

Don't go near it!

PS After the disasterous reputation their cars gained in the UK Daewoo has been taken over by GM who have dropped the Daewoo name in the UK. GM are now marketing the same old rubbish, disguised by a few cosmetic body changes, under the Chevrolet name.

Maybe I was just unlucky, but my brother leant me his Daewoo Nexia with 59k on the clock, and after 1,000 miles the engine completely gave up the ghost, meaning the car had to be scrapped. My conclusion is that you get what you pay for.

They are a well built car, but buying one at this point would be a bad idea because the Company is no longer in business...meaning anything you're going to need for auto repair other than hoses & belts is going to be impossible to locate. If you get into an accident, you will need a custom metal fabricator for repair, not to mention the plastic parts like bumper covers, etc....

do not buy it, its worth about 10 pence and most decent traders wont touch them.
if you wan that size of estate car look for the very last of the ford escorts, they were only available until X reg and with 1600 petrol or 1800 tdi engines. Best was the finesse model a/c, cd player, alloys, metallic paint and ive seen them under £2000.

daewoo motor cars manufactured prior to their takeover by general motors i would not touch with a barge pole. their back up parts service is basically nonexistent. however, since the takeover it is a whole new story

I don't think that Daewoo is any worse than a hundai.
