That would depend on a number of things... Were BOTH dogs leashed? Why did one dog get close to the other dog? Under what circumstances did the bite occur? who provoked who?

If it is reported you will be asked for vet records to make sure your dog is UTD on vaccinations, especially rabies, if not the dog could be taken and quarantined for up to 6 months depending on laws in your state/area. You are liable for all vet costs ensued by the owner of the dog that your dog injured. You could also be fined. Many places the laws are the same for an animal injuring another as it is if it had been a person.

If the dog injured was on your property and your dog did not leave your area then I would say no to you pay.

If the dog injured was on there property and your dog went over there and theres didn't leave there property than you have to pay.

If your dog was on a leash and under your control and there dog came up and attacked it and it defended itself then I would say you don't pay.

Try going to http://www.judgejoebrown.com/ it has great legal info. I've gone there for some stuff and found it very helpful in my case.

Depends on your locality, local laws, and where it happened, and to an extent what the situation was. If your dog went onto the neighbor's property and bit the neighbor's dog, there might be some liability. It all depends. See a lawyer if you need one.

You could be sued by the other dog's owner. At least you would be expected to cover any of the other dog's veterinary expenses incurred by the bite.

that happened in the vet office I work at, the owner of the dog that bit was responsible for paying all the vet bills, but as said above it depends on the circumstances, if you dog was unleashed it is pretty obvious you are in fault.

You're in a heap ( $$$$$$) of trouble, including maybe going to court. I know, but in my lab's case it was several peacocks, not another dog. The sheriff had photos. At that the peacocks owners were not as vengeful as they could have been. Your dog may have to be declared a "dangerous" animal, so in the future please keep your him in your yard and on a leash.Of course if the other dog invaded your yard, thats another story.

My Bull Terrier got hold of the dog next door and tore its neck open,,,their dog did come into our fenced yard,,but we still took it to the vet and paid all the bills.

Doesnt' really matter, you are responsible for the vet bills...your dog did the damage, you should have controlled your dog, hope they don't sue or call the county on you and your dog.
