Hmm...go out to a nice restaurant...have a good meal, go to a sappy movie, have a romantic stroll in the park. Sounds nice to me!

the best thing is to take a long walk. dont make any plans. except for him. go to a city and look up things to do.grab his arm and just be near each other. first thing example buy him a single rose. and stop in a coffee show. order a few drinks talk about life.
let him do the most of the talking. just listen. dont bring anything negative in the conersation remember its only you two. then when you about to leave give him the rose. and keep walking stoping small places/ you will never forget it.

Why not re-create your first date? ;)
Or, since you're in Mass, why not go to Cape Cod, Nantucket, or Marthas Vineyard? (if you can afford it)
Or how about a picnic in the park, if the weather is nice!

you could replicate your first date. that's always a fun idea. :) if that sounds a little corny to you, then you could have a picnic on the beach at sunset, with candles, a blanket, flowers, music, and all that good stuff. i've done it, and its a big winner.

Nothing can be more special than something that comes from you. Whether it is a home cook dinner or just spending time with him, I am sure he will like it.

have sex...it will help you realize if being with him is worth it or not. Believe me... if you get married and later on decide that the sparks aren't there...then what?
