I think I am an effective communicator and am therefore able to communicate myself better orally. I can get my tongue around the very difficult bits and therefore use my mouth effectively. However, I am also able to communicate my basic needs and desires through the written word.

Therefore although oral is my forte, I would not hesitate to be examined in the written word.

But I do really love oral. both, being spoken to and doing the speaking! x

Written is best if you have to choose. There is too much pressure during oral exams it is nearly as bad as job interviews. Anyway I think they should abolish the examination process and base your marks on formative continuous assessment over the period of your education. A one day circumstantial test of your knowledge is both discriminatory and unequally balanced. After all it really tests the people who have the best memory not the people who show an overall aptitude and understanding.

As a teacher, oral exam are easier to give and grade and can easily be modified for special ed students.

But I bet that's not what you meant.
