How about one that speaks ENGLISH since the maid will be raising your kid and not you.
If you didn't intend to raise your child, perhaps you shouldn't have had one. Why not just get a dog or something.

Are you wanting a maid or a nanny? What does nationality have to do with anything? If you speak English in your house, get someone who speaks English. Also, I'm a nanny and I do not do housework. Figure out what you want before you start the hiring process and then go to an agency. There are plenty of maid services who will come to your house and get it clean in about an hour. A nanny agency will screen applicants ahead of time to match you up with someone right for your household. As a professional with 20 years of experience, I think you're a crazy person. You're so insecure and un-knowledgable that you think someone from the islands would bring magic into your house and your husband will cheat on you?? I think right now that you would be suspicious of anyone and be a pain to work for.

First of all, get rid of your stereotype beliefs about this. There is no such thing as being able to pick a good maid based on their race.
Good luck - but, if you can, I would consider staying home with your baby until around age two, then finding a really good daycare center. My little one learned so much in the daycare center I chose. The reports I received about in home care before I decided on a daycare center made my skin crawl. I was in tears by the time I hung up the phone.

Sometimes you ask a simple question and get cynical answers. I guess if you're asking the question you really want the answer. Anyway, not that I agree with going to work and hiring a substitute mom to do you job for you but...I'd go for an older Thai or Hispanic woman. They seem to be better at cooking, cleaning and caring for small children than typical American women (hence you trying to hire outside of your nationality) They seem to be willing to do more for less and without as much attitude.
I hope you stay home, but if you don't, you've got my opinion.

You don't hire a nationality, Honey, you hire a PERSON!!! And you don't seem ready to do that if you are thinking black magic or your husband being bewitched. Why don't you stay home and save the money you would spend on a maid, and forget the paranoia-inducing job.

Why have kids if you're not going to raise them? I understand that you have a job, and don't have time to be with them 24/7, but YOU should be the main person raising the child.
I don't trust maids and baby sitters.
How about your parents, siblings, or a responsible close friend of yours which you trust?

As long as you and your husband go to a reputable employment agency and do thorough background check, do what their hired to do, it doesn't matter what their nationality is. My advice to you is that you really need to think this over and get rid of any preconceived notions about people. In other words, you need to stay at home with your own baby if you feel like that.

Instead of asking "which nationality" is best, you really should be asking 'which APPLICANT" is best. I don't think it's fair to judge people based solely on their nationality. Would you like someone to judge you based on where you were born, where you live or what your skin color is? Compare their references, their skills and how well you and your child seen to "click" with the woman instead.
