We live, we die and then what? What is it that gives you the will to get up each day and go through the same old thing? If you once had joy and lost it then found it again, how? What changed? Yes, I'm under medical care and on meds. Life just seems so pointless, what is your point in living, what gives you a reason to go on?

Like Pocahantas in the Disney movie, never knowing what is around the riverbend. Knowing that the next day can bring smiles and fun. My life had no point, until I chose set myself a point.

Seriously, start eating a diet that stresses protein (poultry and fish are best, unless you are a vegetarian and then soy is very good), low glycemic carbohydrates (look up a glycemic index) and good fat (olive oil for cooking, almonds or peanuts for snacking). If you are not getting the proper nutrition, your brain may be giving you signals that living is pointless to slow you down, so you will survive. Since the being human allows you the option to do more than just survive, you can choose to find out why your brain is doing this (which chemicals it is not getting, or is getting too much of) and change the balance.

I'm responding because I read the other answers and they saddened me. I think reading a bunch of psycho babble is not going to help you with the pointlessness of life. You need change.
The daily grind that most people have created for themselves is, as you referred to, "the same old thing" so step outside the box. Take a leap out of your safe zone and new life will breath into you! Get quiet and allow yourself to feel what passion lives inside you-and follow that voice-it will take you out of your rut! Leap and the net will appear.

I love God and I think He has a plan for my life that I haven't fulfilled yet. I would much rather be in heaven with Him than here on earth, but He obviously wants me here for some reason, so I try to honor and glorify Him.

I love my husband and child very much and know that if I weren't here, their lives would be seriously impacted. I want to teach my child how to be a good, decent person before I go. I want to give my husband a decent life. I want to do what I can to help others while I'm here. So that's why I'm here. Perhaps it would give you purpose to discover that you aren't here for you -- you're here for someone else!

Well I have always wanted to die and commit suicide but then alot of times I don't always feel happy that I am still alive because people in the darn world make you feel sad or happy. Or it depends what your mood is. But I choose DEATH. Sorry.!

We've been evolutionarily tuned to desire to live. Simply put, species that did not carry the desire to live would cease to exist. The desire to live has been hard wired into your brain through millions of years of evolution.
