table scraps?

this isnt so much a question as it is a statement. theres alot of owners out there like me who hand out table scaps as food for their animals. i started that when i first adopted my dog.. 3 months ago.. and eventually it got to the poin where she was only eatin table scaps. well today i took her to the vet because she stopped eatin and her liver, pancreas and kidney's enzymes are extremely high. they had to hospitalize my baby and my vet told me that if given another week or so, my dog could have died from organ failure due to working so hard tryin to digest human food. we all hear it is bad but some of us are hard headed and dont listen. this is just a statement saying please listen to what they say.. give your dog food that is made for them. dont be like me and end up almost killing your animal.

everyone makes mistakes but it takes guts to admit them like this!! Well done for writting this statement to warn other pet owners and im glad your pet is ok. May this be a lesson learned.

i dont know my dog is over 10 yr old and she has always ate table scraps but she also eats dog food to and she has her whole life and she goes in to the vet for a check up all the time and the vet said she is very health shes happy and plays and is a good healthy dog

but reminder dont give it nothing but table food it has to have dog food to

Dogs eat dog food. People eat people food all for good reason. Guess you found out the hard way. Hope she pulls through. But what a hard lesson to learn.

I hear you we should not give our pet's our food,but we do and it's not good for them at all no matter how that cute little face is looking at you,you just remember that one day it could kill them in the long run i agree feed your dog or puppy food it is made just for them and keep your dog away from eating our food your only going to hurt the dog in the long run.

Thanks for sharing that with us. I have also learned that the hard way. When I was growing up with my brothers and sisters we would feed out dog all the food that we didn't like and she did die from that. Be grateful that you found this out before you lost you baby. It was the hardest thing that children have to go through especially when they realize that it was our fault.

I am sorry for the scare you had with your dog. Our dogs have always had tidbits from the table to spice up their kibble and they have all been healthy. Wishing you and your dog well.
