Well, yes.....in a way it is a tantrum. If an adult were to do it, it would be "grim determination". You have a determined child. Now, a battle may ensue. This is the key, though : parents must CHOOSE their battles, because you can't win every one.
If I had my life to do over again, one of the things I would do differently is that I would take parenting courses. I parented by the hit and miss standards, did the best I could, but I would re-do it if I could.

What age? Tantrums are pretty normal up to 5 or 6.
Have you made sure that your child isn't getting overstimulated or too tired. That's when mine throws a fit.

I don't mind the teeth clenching as long as they aren't clenched on my arm. That really hurts!
