He does seem to be showing an interest in your faith. Maybe a good sit down would bring you closer. Catholicism incorporates both early Hellenestic and Judeo beliefs. The essence of all Christain faiths is the same though and that is the belief in Jesus. I will caution you to make sure that you understand the basics of your faith before launching into any discussions

the adjustments are no longer massive adjustments to me. i'm a Christian who became into raised Catholic, or perhaps nevertheless I disagree with a number of the catholic ideals i'd never say Catholics are damned or that they do no longer look to be Christians. i think of people who do are people who spend to a lot time observing what different persons are doing, rather of looking interior the replicate and making particular they're living like a Christian incredibly ought to. additionally, I actual have never known any Catholics who believed that different denominations of Christianity are no longer saved.

He may like you, but he may not like that Catholics (includubg you) pray to 'statues' or to Mary. Praying to ANYONE other than God is forbidden by the Bible and by God.

And when it came about that Peter entered, Cornelius met him, and fell at his feet and worshipped him. But raised him up, saying,” Stand up; I too am just a man”. (Acts 10: 25-26) According to Catholic tradition Peter was the first Pope.

And I (John) fell at his (an angel) feet to worship him. And he said to me, “Do not do that; I am a fellow servant of yours and your brethren who hold the testimony of Jesus; worship God… (Revelation 19:10)

You shall not make for yourself and idol, or any likeness of what is in Heaven above or on the Earth beneath or in the water under the Earth. You shall not worship or serve them; for I, am the Lord your God, am a jealous God… (Exodus 20:4-5)

If he has a problem with you praying to anyone or anything other than God, he is right in feeling that way.

This is how I explain the Communion of Saints to non-Catholics:

Do you have pictures of your loved ones? So do we.

Do you worship these pictures or the people they remind you of? Neither do we.

Do you love and honor the people represented in the pictures? So do we.

Catholics share the belief in the Communion of Saints with many other Christians, including the Eastern Orthodox, Anglican, and Episcopal Churches.

The Communion of Saints is the belief where all saints are intimately related in the Body of Christ, a family. When you die and go to heaven, you do not leave this family.

Everyone in heaven or on their way to heaven are saints. You, me, my deceased grandmother, Mary the mother of Jesus, and Mother Teresa.

As part of this family, you may ask your family and friends here on earth to pray for you. Or you may also ask the Blessed Virgin Mary, Saint Andrew, or your deceased grandmother in heaven to pray for you.

With love and prayers in Christ.

My boyfriend is Catholic, I'm protestant. We worked it out. Everyone has misconceptions - put him straight. Bring him to church with you.

Catholic and Protestant church ceremonies are almost identical. Catholic ceremony is more simply more elaborate and traditional. Protestants do things in a less formal way.

Both protestant and catholic denominations are christian. I know that I have some confusion concerning Catholicism and I'm protestant. I really don't think he was being mean. It was probably just a curious question.

Hmmm.. It seems to me like he wants to have a real talk. Seize the moment, and really talk, these things come very rarely to a man...

It was an honest question. You should sit him down and explain your religion to him.
