I would have him talk to a recruiter about this. Are all the dependents other than you kids?? I don't know of anyone that's joined with that many already. However, once in the Army, there's no limit to how many you can have. Also, how many you have won't change his pay. He'll make the same thing whether is 3 or 12. Anyways, have him talk to a recruiter. You should go with him so that you understand everything that's going on.
Good luck!!
EDIT: I found this on www.army.com
Guidelines
To join the Army Reserve, you must be a U.S. citizen or a resident alien between the ages of 17 and 27. Seventeen-year olds need parental consent. You must have a high school diploma, and have no more than two dependents. In addition, you must take and pass the ASVAB test, as well as a Military Entrance Processing Station medical exam.
EDIT2: Here are the requirements for joining active Army
Be between the ages of 17-39. *
Have no more than two dependents. {The Marines and Navy don't list this specification, but all other do.}
Pass the Armed Services Vocational Aptitude test. (Minimum AFQT Score: 31)
I'm not sure the source link will work without membership, but try it. It has all the info.
EDIT3: I don't know if they'd waive it or not. I'm not an expert by any means. Personally, now that you know this much, your best bet is to get to a recruiter and find out. At an entry level position (E 1-4) in the Army, you won't be able to afford to take care of that many dependents. They might have different qualifications if he can join at a higher rank or as an officer. I found out all I could, now go down with him and talk to a recruiter. If there's a way to work around it, trust me, they will.
Good luck!!

in the military a dependent is either a spouse or a child of the service member. there is no limit on how many dependents a soldier can have, although it may be tough financially because they dont pay you more just because you have a lot of kids. on post housing may not be able to accomodate for that many people so you would probably have to live off post which you do not get very much money to do that, especially for that big of a family. but all dependents will have health coverage.

Since he can have only one wife, That would make the limit somewhere around 40. That is assuming his wife is 18 and she produces children up to age 48 at the rate of one every 9 months and 15 minutes apart. By age 48 that would result in around 40.
You can fit his service away from home as another limit which would make his number of dependents somewhat lower than that, providing he did not have multiple-births.

if you are not already in the military, yes there is a limit to how many you can have coming in. with five children, you have too many. The limit is spouse and 2 kids. Once in, you can have as many as you want, but you will not be paid any more than anyone else in the same pay grade, nor will your housing allowance increase.
reason being.. Junior enlisted pay is NOT designed to provide for a family, let alone a large one.
he MIGHT have a shot going Army Guard and then trying to make thetransition to Acitve, but don't hold your breath.

Have him check with a recruiter to be certain. The Army has different rules on how many dependents you can have when you enlist, depending on your paygrade at the time. I believe that he can have more than three if he can go in as an E-4, but I may be wrong.

I'm not sure if all of his dependants are his children or not. I know that you can have a parent as a dependant if that parent requires care, it's the same for a sibling. But the Army will not provide medical care for parents and siblings. The Army will pay for medical care for all of your kids. If your husband has legal guardianship of any other kids, such as younger siblings, they will also qualify for his medical benefits. The Army will not dictate to you how many dependants you can have, but there are certain issues when it comes to moving overseas. But as long as they are all legal dependants, there should be no problem. If you are asking about dependants regarding filing taxes, it's the same for civilians, you can have as many kids as you want, and other dependants too providing you can prove they live with you and you provide for them. I hope I helped.

Not real. Just an additional fable. Something that used to be real years in the past isn't so anymore. Especially with the volume of provider contributors coming residence that want truly plastic surgical procedure to repair warfare accidents. Breast implants aren't that costly. You can get a exceptional general practitioner and surgical procedure for round five-$7,000. Go pay for it your self.

I have never heard of a limit before. There may be an issue with base housing, but I believe you can have as many dependents as you can afford.
