I looked this one up.

Superstition: An irrational belief that an object, action, or circumstance not logically related to a course of events influences its outcome.

Faith: Belief that does not rest on logical proof or material evidence.
or
Confident belief in the truth, value, or trustworthiness of a person, idea, or thing.

I thought this was interesting. To me it seems like a positive and a negative spin on the same definition, which would lead me to believe that the earlier comment about societal acceptance is completely right.

There does seem to be a slight difference though, using these definitions. Superstition seems to be always connected to some sort of cause and effect. However, if we factor the effects of salvation or damnation into faith, we would again have something very comparable.

Faith is the BELIEF that something is true. Superstition is generally known as fictional. Superstition is commonly practiced out of routine (i.e. wearing the same socks without washing them during your basketball team's winning streak). Most people who practice superstition admit that it is more out of routine and habit than it is supernatural powers. I hope this clarifies things a bit. Have a nice day.

Faith is a true trust in someone, superstition is beileving wearing a certain item will give you bad luck, or a 4 leaf clover is lucky, or a black cat is bad luck.

superstition is more like good luch vs bad luck and also needs faith to work too.

If someone believes a 4 leaf clover is good luck, they have faith in the clover. Faith can be used superstitiously but isnt superstitious in itself.

Superstition's like being afraid to have a 13th floor in a building, or living in apt. 13. It can be those people that won't walk on cracks or under ladders.

Faith is believing in something - for lots of us, that is God.
