NO!!! UK roads are treated with an anti-flat compound, hence you'll NEVER EVER need a spare.

What do you think about this then? My dad bought himself a brand new car the other week. He was put out because this new car didn't have a spare wheel.

He was on his way to buy a spare wheel for his car to make him feel a little more secure and guess what happened? The front wheel dropped off completely. The metal snapped and he was well and truly struggling with three wheels on his wagon.

The car dealer was called out and took the car for repair. They didn't exchange the car but replaced it although he could have insisted for it to be changed. Even though a spare wheel wouldn't have helped this situation, it's probably a safer bet to have a spare wheel!

Yes, you must carry a roadworthy spare, ie inflated and with a legal amount of tread. Your car can be seized if you are stopped by the police without one. You can also be fined.

Some (very few) cars are exempt. If you have a vintage car that was produced without a space in the boot for a spare, or if you are driving on the spare and can prove that you have had a recent puncture, then you will not be charged.

No

Legally you don't have to have a spare but if you do carry a spare it must have a tyre with the legal amount of tread depth and be regularly checked for pressure.

It is recommended to carry a spare irregardless where you are. It is nice to have in an emergency with a flat. Could make night and day difference on a stormy night.

No. But if you do it must be legal (correct tyre pressure, enough tyre tread, tyre and wheel in good condition).

Many new cars come with a tyre-repair kit instead of a spare wheel.

No you dont. Your car will fail an mot if it does not have a roadworthy one, but after the mot, there is no crime, same as mot defects..you were driving with those, between the last mot, and the current fail, but no actual crime, unless blatantly unroadworthy.
If you want text book law see a text book, but no officer, stopping to see your breakdown, would charge you, as first you'd say its stolen! as many are under the car...this did actually happen to me! or say you dont know where its gone, the car is shared...it it so unlikely to result in a prosecution, IF a law does exist.

some dont beleive it until it happens to them,

but trust me they are out there and they mighht get you, if u dont have a spare wheel you could be stuck somewhere at a traffic lights forever.

some says its an urban myth

some know better

some call them the little evil gnomes of cresnobolives

others call them scousers

Simple answer - Yes

Cause I had a flat tyre - twice and lucky I had a spare to change.

no you don't. If you don't have a spare wheel for your mot it will still pass. But if you have a bald spare wheel it will fail.
