Is it coincidence that when we are on our menstrual periods that we often need to go number 2 at the same exact time. For example, I've noticed that when I start my menstrual period - few days after starting for some unexpected reasons I need to go number 2 and to me, seems like that's an incovieniece. Does it have to do with our menstrual cramps and with that reaction it feels like we have to go? Or is that only a coincidence that we happened to go regardless of being on our cycle? Anyone experienced this before? I know it's gross and thinking why I'm asking this in the first place, but I'm curious and if I was a doctor I wouldn't have to ask, but I'm not one so .. anybody?

I believe it is estrogen changes that affects bowel activity, but yes, it is normal to have such changes during your period. It also happens on a grander scale during pregnancy.

yes, i've experienced it and it is quite natural and normal. Sometimes when you have cramps it can happen and yes it is quite unpleasant and inconvenient when you number 2 and have your period at the same time especially if it is diarrhea.. yuck (if you gotta go, you gotta go) btw... if you have bad cramps try advil or midol

Most people go #2 as you put it daily so why would this time of the month be an exception?

I can't guarantee you this is correct, but I've been told that during your period, your body is cleansing itself of more than just the lining of your uterus. So, I suppose, that would be why you find you have to go more often.

It's actually quite common... a result of the change in hormones.

some people who r called regular go every day....so i would think that if you had to go after your cycle starts it is not unusual...in fact it is normal and unrelated to your cycle.
