I'm only answering this because the first answerer said you couldn't spell. You spell A LOT better the most of the people on this thing. Congratulations.

And I'm a smoker, too. I proudly light up every time I hear people complain that smoking kills

I think what you're trying to ask is shouldn't we quit smoking by all if second hand smoke is worse than first? Smoke all you want but I think cigarettes should come with little tubes so that all of the smoke can go into the smokers body instead of people who don't deserve and haven't asked for the consequences like stinky clothes, nasty smelling cars, yellow walls in your home, bad breath, lung cancer, lip cancers and increased heart issue risk. You really should consider some new habits.

If you're a homeowner or business owner who allows smoking in your building - it will be hard to sell it because you can't erradicate the smell and the color it leaves behind. Oh yes and how many people have started fires with these evil little paper sticks and killed people in the process who weren't asking for it?

Oh and don't forget how that stuff ages your skin faster, and slows down your progress as a human since it numbs the senses so you don't have to learn how to cope with life's issues and grow personally.

There is no way 2nd hand smoke is worse than 1st hand smoking. That is just plain senseless; it's like saying half a glass of water is more than a whole glass of water. Smoke has cumulative effects. If a person does not smoke (base smoke exposure 0), then is exposed to second hand smoke, there risk is increased because there is some exposure compared to none. However, comparing second hand to first hand smoking, the risk is exponentially larger for actually smoking. More smoke = more risk.

What? I've never met anyone claiming that second hand smoke is worse than first hand. It can still do damage though, and is very irritating to the lungs of nonsmokers, particularly those with asthma or other problems. You do have smoking privileges. You are free to smoke in your home, your car, and outside. Grow up!

Who told you second hand smoke is worse than smoking?

True, that the smoke that leaves the tip of a cigarette is unfiltered. This makes it more dangerous than the "filtered" smoke that someone inhales from the mouthpiece of a cigarette. (Hm... inhaled from the mouthpiece - do you have an oral fixation perhaps?)

Think, however, how much more smoke a smoker inhales than a second-hand smoker does. Morbidity and mortality from "first-hand smoke" are much greater than from second-hand smoke. "First-hand smoke" is worse than second-hand smoke - there's no comparison.

Second-hand smoke, however, DOES increase risk for cardiovascular disease, asthma and other respiratory illnesses, and other major medical problems in people exposed to it.

There's no reason that people who don't smoke should be forced to inhale tar, nicotine, carbon monoxide, and carcinogens added to cigarettes. I know you love your cigarettes, but it's probably just because you're addicted to them. There's no reason that your addiction should be able to be imposed upon others.

Cheers.

I got the first part of your question, but you lost me on the second part.

Smoking is horrible. No matter what. My mother died from smoking related lung cancer. She died a horrible, painful death.

You may love smoking, but it's killing you and those around you.
Smoking does not guarantee privileges of any kind. Those days are over. Businesses and governments are wise now- healthy employees mean less medical costs.

So, start thinking about the rest of your life. Do you want to spend it tied to an oxygen tank and morphine pump? Then, smoke away- but keep it away from those of us who want to breathe.

What kind of question is that? We should just resolve that problem by not smoking at all. If no one smoked no one would die as simple as that. I feel sorry for you that you are addicted. But you are killing yourself and don't try to encourage other people to do so. You need some nicotine patches.

First-hand and second-hand smoke are both disease-causing.

I don't think smoking should be allowed in ANY public building.

No because smoking around other smokers gives you both first and secondhand smoke
