I'm 33. A 12 year old black belt will not have more experience than a 35 year old white belt.
Especially if the 35 year old has had REAL LIFE FIGHTING EXPERIENCE.
They may know how to perform a certain movement, but I will guarantee you they do not know why they perform it. Besides, XMA, EMC Monkeys, tricking and other tournament favorites are NOT martial arts. They are for entertainment. They take lots of gymnastic ability and skill, but that doesn't make them martial arts.

k your 20 buddy theres peopel in china that take till there late 30's and 40's to get tehre black belt or teaching degree in china's case. so your 20 and know a little bit about fighting big deal. you got a black belt oh well its american which means @@@# all. and in my opinion most 12 years olds know more than 20 year olds because there ambitious. and want to learn where as some one that 20 is all like oh i can't listen to a 12 year old cause i'm narrow minded go into TKD or Karate fight a second degree black belt thats 16 or than you will shut your mouth if you perfect technique theres no point for havign huge power. giving you spacial advantage and a speed but you know beign a 20 year old makes you better than every one else. PS I'm 20

I'm 21 and I agree with you but then again I have meet some 12 year olds that really know what they are talking about, there are few but they do exist.
is just depend on how long they've been doing martial art, how hard they've work at it and their instructors, many time they are really full of it, they just wear the belt.

I'm 20 this yr. I got my Junior black belt when I was 10. I convert to senior black when I was 15. I agree that it is easier to upgrade to higher belt level when one is young. However, these young guys have things for us to learn from too! We should give them a chance to voice out their ideas. If they are wrong, we can correct them. If they are right, it makes the world a better place!
We will stop growing if we stop learning.

It seems most of the questions are from 12 y/o's too. all this "what's the best style", "who would win if...", and other crap is obviously juvenile.
By the way, I'm 42 with many years of experience in the arts and black belts in karate and iaido (my favorites).

i agree with livsad. some 12 y.o. have trained since they were about 4 , that makes them much more knowedlable than a 35 year old white belt
