I am very happy with my beliefs but I still enjoy learning about other people's beliefs. Plus I am a "people-watcher" so I watch the actions of people to learn what kind of person each religion seems to produce. I realize that people do not necessarily represent everyone in a particular religion but after seeing the same traits over and over again, I assume that their religion condones it. I've learned a lot here about what I do not want to be like. All learning is good!
If someone asks a religious question that is general or about my religion, I am happy to share what I know or read what others have answered. But I don't answer questions that are pointed towards religious beliefs (or the lack of them) that do not apply to me.

My beliefs are right for me. Everyone should be free to believe whatever they feel is right for them. I am open minded to thoughts on others beliefs. That does not mean I will adopt them as my own. It means I have the ability to understand where other people are coming from. I try not to bash anyone.
I am an Atheist

I have my set of beliefs that are what I try to live by. Having said that I love to see what other people believe, it doesn't bother me if it is not the same thing I believe.
I have friends from all different backgrounds including Muslim, agnostic and Wicca. I enjoy seek out similarities and seeing what makes people tick. I will ask lots of questions, but not because I am trying to discourage or destroy, but because I want to understand. Often I am just trying to make all the piece fit together and to absorb the new ideas and fit them with mine. Because I am secure in my own beliefs I don't feel the need to cut down others. Questions don't bother me, nor does giving honest answers.

I like to play Jenga with my beliefs. Sometimes I'm a full on Fundamentalist, other times I'm nearly Buddhist. About the only thing I'm sure is wrong is atheism. But I'll even give them an honest listen. Muslims are fun to bait. They don't think at all!
Long ago, I was given a prophecy at a Charasmatic meeting, that everything except for Jesus would be stripped away from us. That prophecy has indeed come true.

John,
Most people are open minded to other religious beliefs, but you must remember that a good portion of the Q/A here are from pre-teen and teens. They have not yet learned how to look at 'the big picture' and they surely have little respect for anyone or anything else (so it seems).

I think I'm open minded about things, but I don't find that there is a lot of quality conversations going on. The way we address each other here is to just kind of prove that we're right, isn't it?
I tend to find that the answers I like giving and receiving are thoughtful, open, and reflect more than just a knee-jerk reaction to others' views.
Good luck in finding open mindedness and compassion here.

hello:}
NO ONES RIGHT!
really no one can prove their religion is the only one worth having ,it is crazy to think you KNOW or anyone really knows .
i get so tired of hearing the different view points but with no real substance behind it .
all the stories and books and yet no one can PROVE who is right .
the people who love everyone for their differences and who can be open minded are very rare .
bashing others is the first thing i notice ,judging others is wrong and so is bashing them simply because someone is NOT open minded .
anyway :}
best to you
peggy

If you are open minded to other beliefs then you don't have a belief.Once you choose their is nothing to be open minded about, that is what you believe, you can't change your mind every 6 months and still say you believed in it.

Why can it not be both? I have proof I'm open minded, because I used to be a young earth creationist and now I'm an atheist as the result of investigation and study.
But that doesn't mean I don't enjoy a good bashing.

I believe what I believe.. however I will not try to force another as to how I believe. If I am asked I will state what I don't agree with and why and if people ask the question and feel insulted afterwards I'm sorry but the question was asked and I honestly answered. I believe everyone has the right to believe as they want but I may not agree with the theology.
