"Which road would your brother tell me to take?"

No matter which brother he asks, he will be told that the other brother will tell him the wrong way. So whatever they tell him, he should go the other way.

ask which road leads away from town x. the brother that lies will point to the road leading to the town, the brother that tells the truth will point to the one leading away. either way he knows which road to take.

I'm gonna call the two brothers Timmy and Luis. Timmy tells the Truth and Luis Lies. Lets call the road to town x, road "A" and the road that doesn't lead to town x, road "B".

First I ask Luis the Liar.
"what road would your brother say is the road to town x?"
we all know Luis lies. He knows his brother would tell the truth and point to road "A" (road to town x), but Luis lies, so he is going to point to road "B" (road that doesnt lead to town x).

Then I ask Timmy.
"what road would your brother say is the road to town x"
Well Timmy always tells the truth, he knows that his brother always lies, so he again is going to point to the wrong road - road "B".

So from that you know the road to town x is the road they dont point to - road "A".

He could tell him let's play 'truth or dare'
If the brother chose truth, then Tom shall ask him:
" which road leads to town X"
If the brother chose dare, then Tom shall tell him:
"I dare you to take me to town X"

two solutions:

1) Ask the question does the liar stand in front of the right path..

Doesn't matter which you ask... if he says "YES" then you go his way... if he says NO... go the other-way.

2) Assumes that both men come from a TRIBE who tell the truth, or lie.. then ask him... which way would your CHIEF say is the right path... The TRUTH GUY will tell the truth about the truth
the LIAR becomes a double negative.

If he asks." Do you know me?", the lieing brother would say yes and the man would know it was a lie. If the brother answered no he would know he was not the lieing brother and would foloow his directions.
