Popular in america: whatever is local and cheap for highschool and college students (Natural Ice, Keystone, whatever it is named in your area, it is cheap and gross, normally blonde)

Then for most average joes there is Coors, Budwiser, and local brews. I believe most of them are blonde.

For those people that like beer, there are the imports like Corona, XX, and Molson which are all blonde and Guinness which is dark.

I only drink blonde, but both are popular.

The most popular brands of beer consumed in America would have to be Budweiser and Bud Lite. In my personal opinion these are two of the most detestable beers available. Following in closely behind them are any number of macro brews made specifically to be cheap and tasteless. Oddly enough Guinness is on the rise amongst college bars. It is on the opposite end of the spectrum from the already mentioned brews. It's darkness and strength are trumped only by brews called Imperial Russian Stouts which were intentionally brewed to be stronger and more potent than normal stouts,

The bad news is that the MOST POPULAR BEER IN THE WHOLE WORLD by volume is Bud Lite.

But the good news is, the beer market is made up of so many thousands of breweries that Bud Lite only accounts for about 3.5% of beer consumed.

Life is too short to drink the same beer every day!

Cheers...
