Was thinking the lack of feild labor might be a tactic the produce producers are creating in retalition aginst the recent push by local goverments to stop illegal immigration related crimes.

I imagine the producer may be causing the loss in employment rather it be refusing to raise wages,or possible not hiring. They are pourposly causing the the problem to try and scare people into thinking that with out illegal immigrants we would run into a food shortage.

If they can sway goverment and tax payers into beliving this, they would have the cheap labor they want. Cheap labor only benifits the producer, and not the American public .

Just a theory, any one have any links to support or dennie it ?

I also have the sinking, I'm going to catch alot of hell over this.....

Considering big business walks hand in hand with this administration, it is a distinct possibility ... keeping in mind that our govt is doing as little as they possibly can get away with to address the situation ... I wouldn't be at all surprised if, next year, we'll see some kind of compensation being given to the fruit growers for unharvested produce ... again at tax payers expense of course ...

Another thing to take into account is that in Florida, for example, illegals can pick up much more lucrative jobs than fruit picking in the construction industry ... and again with our beloved administration's help, illegals are flocking in to New Orleans for the construction work going on there ...

Every time labor gets scarce, we manage to invent a machine that will do the job. Since field labor is so plentiful and cheap now its not been worth it. If we deport the illegals, we'll just invent some machines to take their places.

I completely agree. They are trying to scare us into letting them keep their cheap labor. I knew this would happen, and I knew they wouldn't offer the jobs to citizens even at minimum wage. Many of us could fight back by growing our own produce and selling what we don't use in our communities. Or we could trade with our neighbors for what we need.

For anyone in this great country to say we are dependent on illegals is the same as saying a dope head can't survive without his dope! Rehab sucks but no one needs dope!
