I have paused for eight mounts at a time, and I have paused for six and seven months many times.
In 1973 I was exposed to fire, my lungs were damaged, the Veterans Administration keeps close tabs on my lungs. I was in a biopsy, the doctor said “ I am glad to see you don't smoke” Man I smoke a pack of cigars a day and have for 40 years!

I quit smoking cigarettes after 23 years of two-packs a day.
Pray, it works.
Also, the best advice I ever got is never cheat, even once, because if you do, you will cheat more and more until you are right back where you started.
I've been smoke free for almost 7 years now.
It is not as hard as they say.
I used hot flavored teas and "smoked" the yummy steam. Earl Grey might be good for a cigar smoker. I got a lot of Yankee candles and smelled them too. I also gained a lot of weight the first year, but I lost it over the next 2 years. Being a lot heavier and not smoking felt a whole lot better than being thinner and smoking. Now I feel better than ever and I can run!

But are you sure you want to? You may be able to dupe a doc again!

I wish I had the answerrs!!! Ive been smoking almost as long-well 25 years and I PAUSED one day!!! I would think if you could pause for 8 months you would be home free!!!! I had a friend who quit by carrying around this glass jar with old cigarette butts and crap in it and GOD it totally STUNK and when she was temped to smoke she would take the lid off and sniff this! Turned her off right away and didnt smoke! Also a relative of mine did hypnosis and she hasnt smoked for 7 years now. I think its all in our minds really! Im a totally stubborn person and when I want something I wont quit till I get it- SO I know if I truly wanted to quit I would! I think we just need to make up our minds completely to totally quit and we can! Now I just have to convince myself! lol

it takes only seven day to get over the physical addiction to nicotine after that it is all mental
so just quit and then after the first seven days just keep telling yourself that your not going to smoke any more and if you have willpower then you will have quit
