You could go with a short style that will grow out the color quicker. Or you could find some fun styles that look good, or take one of those root coverage kits to soften the line between natural and dyed color. Medium brown isn't too terribly different from dark brown to begin with, at least you're not growing black out of blonde-dyed hair (or the opposite, like me :)
Talk to a professional and ask about styles you could do to make it look okay. Or just try to rock the different coloring. You can rock anything if you've got the confidence. (including half-dyed, half-still natural eyebrows. Like mine.)

=)) believe it or not it's not a bad idea to dye it just one last time. in my experience the best thing to do is buy a good hair dye (out of the box) w/ a deep conditioner in a color that is just a little darker than your hair color or in your case just a good dark brown. you don't want to go black cuz it'll never come out. maybe a deep dark brown. after a few weeks, and using the conditioner that comes w/ the hair dying kit, your hair will fade to your natural color and you won't have to worry about nasty roots. this is what i had to do. cuz of the good conditioning, my hair didn't get damaged. it also helped that after 2 weeks w/ the dyed hair i got a trim to get rid of any of the left over split ends. now my hair looks it's natural healthy self. and i went from streaks that damage your hair (cuz of bleaching) to a nice natural light brown.

When I was growing mine out I streaked it to help it blend in. My natural color is dark brown and I had it colored blonde. Every time I would go to have it re-streaked I would do it a little darker and closer to my natural color. I also have an excellent stylist and she helped me decided on the colors that would help it look more natural until it was ALL natural again. Hope this helps!

You can have a demi hair color put in to even it up. Demi color does not change your natural color and will fade out. Go to a salon to find out more about it.

You will just have to wait. Pull it back in a pony tail. Or buy a hair piece that matches your own color. They have alot of styles like pull your hair back and attach the hair piece to the back of your hair like a cascade fall. Get your hair cut real short like a pixie.

you could keep it up in a ponytail until it is at a length you want, but that can be sometimes inconvienent...I think you will have to either dye it or trim of the other color.

wear a hat, until it grows out to a length where you don't mind having it cut short in a nice style.
