If a religion or spiritual path we adopted makes us Sad, Annoyed, Irritable, Depressed, Fearful and Tearful...well, generally Unhappy for a long time ( and more )... shouldnt that mean our spiritual search is NOT over or maybe we are destined to be atheists.... If that is the case should such a devotee
1.abandon it, coz any holy path is meant to liberate us from unhappiness,
2.keep it on the shelf for awhile, maybe i need a time-out to cool down and think it over
3.drudge your way through despite any pain, bondage and unhappiness? err... coz Pain is happiness?
4. None of the above because ________________________?

I would say start with choice 2, and after a few attempts and still doesnt click, then isnt it obvious that this is notthe path for you?
I believe any sort of spiritual path's objective is bring the seeker ultimate happiness... temporally we will always go thru ups and downs, but if the spiritual path itself is the downer all the time then it is not meant for you.
Spirtuality is about Happiness: Peace is Happiness, Calm is Happiness, Truth is Happiness., Devotion to a One God is happiness to some, Devotion to a whole Pantheon of gods is Happiness to some, just as we are all born with different likes and dislikes, so too our mind, heart and spirits reaches out to learn different things.
Saying there is only Vanilla Flavor at Baskin and Robbins is just silly, if B & R had created such a grand array of flavors, you should try it out until you find the flavor that makes you want no other flavor any more. I went thru most of their flavors and I came back to vanilla... I KNOW... how sad huh? haha

I guess it depends. Religion is not a magic wand - bad things still happen to very good people. If you have a tendency toward being depressed or sad anyway - then it might not matter what religion you join because you will still feel sad.
With religion there are a lot of rules and things we feel are expected of us. But when it all boils down to the important bit - the main thing for every (Christian religion anyway) is to love God and love your neighbor. The Bible says to have Charity and that if you do then all will be well with you spiritually. Charity is the ability to see and love others the way God does, including yourself. All you can to do is try.
If you believe in praying then maybe you should ask God what he wants you to do. But when you pray you need to have made up your mind first. Like if you decided to stick it out with the religion you are in now - I would tell God how unhappy you are, but that you still were willing to try the path you are on. Ask him if this is the right thing for you to do. If it is he will answer you with a feeling of peace in your heart and in your mind. If you don't feel that way then I would start praying and asking him to lead you to a religion that will bring you the peace and happiness you are looking for. Be patient - this sort of thing takes time. But remember once you ask God for something good he immediately sets things in motion for your prayer to be answered.
If you don't believe in prayer, well then try keeping it on the shelf for a while - if you miss it after you've had time to think it over then try again.
Anyway, good luck!

Depends. Is it your religion that makes you unhappy or your lifestyle that conflicts with it's moral code.
Know why we have a moral code. It's really not because God was bossy. It's because when you do things you were not created to do(not recommended by the manufacturer) than you become angry , depressed, irritable, sad until you find a way out of the problems.
Jesus is the way.

notwithstanding i'm at as quickly as, i've got regular dozens of gays and lesbians, alongside with some couples with orphaned toddlers of their properties. I constantly stumbled on homosexuals to be good human beings who have been particularly gentle to the emotional desires of those around them. with the aid of fact of their awareness of their very own sexuality, i've got constantly theory lesbian couples could make quite effective mum and dad. I knew a lesbian couple who have been elevating a boy and a woman and have been worried that they have got a favorable male place sort. They delivered a guy into their family members for purely that purpose. that's lots greater desirable than the common ex-husband hating self-obsessed divorcee could ever do. thinking the alternative is a sterile baby shielding centers team residing house, transforming into up with loving comparable-intercourse mum and dad is infinitely greater effectual.

I would reevaluate to see if perhaps I am unhappy because of something I am doing wrong or not doing that I know I should be. If that is not the case I would definitely reconsider and search for the truth.

Two reasons to be unhappy - first - you strongly believe in you religion, but you feel your life is not the way that it should be according to it. In this case - change your life. But the second case is when the principles of the religion is not responding to your inner soul. In this case change your religion.

4. We shouldn't be looking for a religion that makes us happy; we should be looking for the truth.
Of course, the truth will makes us happy, as a side effect. But that's not the primary purpose.

Religion is man's attempt at reaching God. No religion can ever fill the void inside of us.
Christianity is God reaching out to man. God can fill that empty spot inside us because He put it there. We are not complete until Jesus in us.
That fullness brings joy, peace, love, mercy, contentment. Being united with our Creator brings true happiness.
Only ONE WAY - Jesus!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
