My nephew does it. Next time I will try a fork in the eye. You could try that, too.

Most foods have an aroma that will make anyone in the same room want to eat them. I work at a place where I cannot cook, so I have my breakfast before I leave my house. I generally have bacon, sausage, and fried potatoes.
I get to work about 08.30. The people in the house next to my place of work cook their breakfast about 09.00, and they have fried potatoes. As soon as I smell their potatoes frying, I find that I want a portion, even though I've just had some of my own. As a person who has worked as a chef, I know how to cook fried potatoes!
The answer to your problem is, if there are two of you, never cook for one.

Yes, yes we do. In future, don't ask her if she wants any chips, just do extra and take them to her and say Here - I made some for You. Plus have some extra on your plate for her to nab you churlish oaf.
She should be touched. If she's ungrateful or worries about getting fat then you're probably better off without her.

It's not just women. I can't have a meal at work without someone coming to me, looming over my plate, and asking a bunch of questions about my food. People have revolting manners.

Yes, because I'm hungry and all I want to do is eat, and I don't need someone watching me while I eat. Ask your girlfriend why she does that and say it bothers you. I don't think women do what your girlfriend does, which is pretty strange, no offense.

It's not just women - kids and men do it as well and it drives me up the wall. Trust me I breathe fire when they start hovering!

Yes it does, my dog does it all the time. When she's sitting down, her nose reaches the top of the table, and I can feel her breathing on my arm.

I used to have this problem until I started packing my gun with me at the dining table. No more problem.
