Belief seems to place certain limits on the imagination; and sometimes, on empathy as well. This would explain why atheists are the least trusted minority in America.

Well, there IS tons of proof, but some people are idiots, and don't believe things that have been proven. You can prove things to them but they'll say 'nah, I don't believe that.' There are tons of people who don't believe in God, but I guess some argue otherwise because they say things like "oh my god" or they get angry at God when something bad happens or suddenly pray to him when something REALLY terrible does.
But really I'd say it's because the really vocal Christians who take conversion as their personal goal in life have no idea what they're doing. The vocal people don't understand why they get so much backlash (must be because atheists are evil, evil people!), and they make the rest of us look stupid with their actions. Some of the people who want you to be Christian actually drive you further from it, and the rest of us wish they would just do their part by shutting up! Mr. Mister is a greaattt example.

I think I understand some reasons they do this, but it's annoying nonetheless.
I think the bigger reason is that atheism is an assault on the very concept of faith, which is fundamental to their beliefs. Faith in a different god, or faith in some other kind of metaphysics can be written off as 'wrong', but it's more difficult to write off a claim that faith is invalid, because that claim is actually true! So they just deny that it's possible to live without metaphysical faith, and it makes them feel better.

Yeah, the definitions for God seem to be as infinitely broad as there are people defining Him (or Her, or Him/Her, or some Energy, or a Tree, or the Sun, or the Moon, or the Universe, etc,).
Man has an incredible imagination when it comes to God, but you have to admit, these 'imagined' Gods permeate mans history.

In order to be an atheist, we have to deny the existence of something called God or any other religious entity recognised by believers.
If these deistic entities did not exist, the word "atheist" would not have been necessary.
The word to apply for believers and non believers and atheists and agnostics and so forth is : Morons

There may be a god but the Christian version of God is unappealing to me - so, no matter what they do, Christians will never be able to convince me that their god and their religion are the "right" ones. Nor can they convince me that their "holy" book is the one true word of God. If there truly is a god, then I suspect that many books (all?) are the word of God.

At what age do you think of it’s suitable for a little ones to start dating? ????? Now ask one or the two certainly one of your mom and dad the same question, and fill of their answer. ????? danger is, the 1st selection you wrote down is below the 2d. or maybe not! you would be certainly one of many youths who're properly putting off dating till they’re old sufficient to understand themselves extra useful. That’s what Danielle, 17, desperate to do. She says: “questioning returned to 2 years in the past, what i could have looked for in a ability mate grew to become into so different from what i could look for now. particularly, even at this factor I don’t believe myself to make certainly one of those determination. while i've got self assurance that my character has been stable for a pair of years, then I’ll think of roughly dating.” There’s yet another rationalization why waiting is wise. The Bible makes use of the word “the bloom of youngsters” to describe the era of existence while sexual emotions and romantic emotions first grow to be sturdy. (a million Corinthians 7:36) to maintain close association with one specific member of the alternative intercourse on the same time as you’re nevertheless in this area can fire up want and convey approximately incorrect habit. genuine, that would recommend little on your friends. a lot of them are all too desirous to test with intercourse. yet you could upward thrust above that form of questioning! (Romans 12:2) after all, the Bible urges you to “flee from sexual immorality.” (a million Corinthians 6:18, New worldwide version) by ability of waiting till you’re previous the bloom of youngsters, you could “steer clean of calamity.”—Ecclesiastes 11:10.

Mr. Mister is a prime example of the problem: if you challenge Christian beliefs, if you say, "I doubt that your bible is actually a factual document", they respond by quoting their bible.
Okay. I just told you I do not believe your source, and yet you continue to quote your source to tell me why my disbelief in your source is wrong. Hm.
Look up the word obtuse.

I think that Christians often mistake "Atheists" with "Agnostics".
They should try to convert Agnostics instead.
