My nails used to go straight out when they were long but now some of them curve under. Some of them only curve under on one side of the nail. Anyone have this and ask a doctor about it? I want to know the scientific reason for this and if it could indicate a health problem.

Keep in mind they aren't very long. They start doing this pretty quickly as they grow.

Mine do the same thing. I think if I let them grow really long, they would grow in a spiral! I've never asked a doctor about it. I've noticed within the last few years that my ring finger nails seem to flatten in the middle when they get a little long. I'm going with the theory that it denoted superior intellect!

I'm not really sure if it has a name or if there is anything you can do, my kids nails do the same thing, especially my sons...i always just assumed it was normal, and just had something to do with either damaging the nails, or the way the nails sometimes grow.

The truth is my son's nails used to do that. I had to keep them clipped very short.

My nails on the other hand twist when the nails get long. they look kind of spiral if you know what I mean.

If you've ever had fake nails on the glue and all does damage to the nail and can cause them to bend particularly on the corners of the grown out nail.

Yeah I have one toe nail that used to do that. I just had to keep it short and now (years later) from all the cutting in the right shape, it grows out straight. I never went to a doctor for it (didnt cause me pain cause I caught it early) so I really dunno what it is called sorry.
