Many generations of Rough Collies have kind of established an iron-clad grip on the franchise, I know. But if you could start from scratch...

....um, sorry, I always get distracted by that word...yeah...anyway, which breed of dog would you want to take over this important role, embodying (maybe updating?) all of Lassie's best values for the 21st century?

(Assume there are NO Rough Collies available, anywhere in the world, because they're all chillin' in the jacuzzi back at my apartment. Which reminds me, time to log off...RRRRRRRRRRRRR ; )

A CHIHUAHUA!!!!????

Being Lassie is a serious responsibility! You're the Wonder Woman of the dog world. The only thing I've ever heard female Chihuahuas talk about is their hair. You can't have a bimbo Lassie!

A pit bull! Then Lassie could kickass!

Lassie: Bark bark bark bark!!
Timmys Dad: What's that Lassie? Timmy was kidnapped?
Lassie: Bark bark bark...
Timmys Dad: Some guys grabbed him form the park?
Lassie: Bark bark bark bark bark...grrrr!!
Timmys Dad: So you chased them down, yes?
Lassie: Bark bark bark - woof woof grrrrrr!
Timmys Dad: You caught up to them and ripped chunks of flesh off of them!
Lassie: Bark bark bark bark bark bark.
Timmys Dad: So they went running away screaming like little girls!
Lassie: Bark bark bark bark!!
Timmys Dad: ...and now Timmy is back playing at the park! Good job, girl!

OMG....Lassie replacement!!! That's a toughie!!!!...Maybe a combination of Lassie and Skippy the bush kangaroo?? A Collarroo...It brings a tear to my eye to even think about replacing that icon of canine magnificence. If I HAD to make a choice, I'd rather be in the jacuzzi. Oh ok, probably a Boxer...athletic, fun and honest...ok not as pretty and fluffy but looks aren't everything.

My dog! Parker is a bearded collie/Siberian husky mix and everyone thinks he's a "T.V dog". Of course, Lassie is irreplaceable, and I for one think that the legendary hero of all time would resemble a lion, and the only lion-looking dog out there is the rough collie. But still, a bearded collie/Siberian husky mix would be VERY cute!

Pit bull. The series would consist of one show. Little Timmy would fall down the well on purpose to get away from Lassie and everyone else would be behind locked doors! :)

German Shepherd/Dachshund mix! The brains and strength of the shepherd would make it invincible. The dachshund's stubbornness would make him never give up. If Timmy got stuck in a badger hole, this dog could find him from miles away and drag him out all by himself.

A Rottweiler. They are the most lovable breeds I have ever seen and not as vicious as they are made out to be. Any Rottweiler owner would agree. My Rottweiler, Bear, is 132lbs and would still be a lap dog if it was up to him.

I would cast a Doberman cuz I really think they have been villainized, by being cast as ferocious dogs and they really aren't, besides that, they could do better stunts!!! They are much smarter in my opinion
