Why didn't the Soviets send him weapons to aid his communist revolution?

In the begining they didnt have money to buy Russian guns, plus they couldnt get the weapons there anyway. The FN FAL was the standard army issue under the Battista regime. So you have to use what you get. or in this case take off a dead capitalist.

The reason is cuba was using western weapons at the time of the revolution. After they imported all soviet weapons so they would be immune to an embargo from the west.

The Soviets had yet begun to export the AK at that time (1959).It was still considered a "secret weapon".

He didn't have a AK47 because he received most of his arms and supplies from South America and believe it or not USA. He didn't reveal his communist beliefs until aome time after his take over and he was established in office.

they did but he may not have liked the AK and just had an FAL layin around
