Oh wow You are very lucky

Gwangju was the Capitol of Korea 1400 years ago in the shilla dynasty, there are so many historical sites and traditional places, such as Bulguksa, the largest buddhist temple in all korea, and king muju's tomb, which is among other royal tombs that are shaped very strange, like huge grass hills shaped like bubbles. and gul-jung, and underwater cave shrine. you will definetely learn alot just by living there

as for recreation, OF course there are gyms! they have an entire olympic park! if that's not what your into though, you can always find "Hel-su ku-lub" (health clubs, which is what koreans call gyms) which are usually located on the topper floors of store complexes, they have all the normal gym equipment, but it's in metric, so just remember, 1 kilogram is 2.2 pounds.

Korea is incredible during Autumn and Spring the leave change color creating a beautiful array of golden mountains. Autumn is also the time when most festivals are held so join in and enjoy the show! In spring, Korea is the most colorful as every tree blossoms and the entire country is a spectrum of colors, especially with the cherry blossoms and magnolias planted everywhere.

winters are not that cold especially in the south where kwangju is located. there's little snow that usually melts fast and leaving an ugly mess of slush on the streets. and for summer pack up umbrellas and raincoats, because summer is "chang-ma'cheol" (the rainy season).

you might want to bring a korean english dictionary, but most koreans speak enough english to understand your concept, since they are taught english in junior high school and up. son't worry about breaking any customs, koreans understand and are okay if foreiners make any mistakes that are against their norms. just Don't make any huge scenes or act in a very loud fashion and you should be alright.

for appliances, you should bring a plug adapter, as the outlets in korea are differently shaped. you can buy one at any electronics store. you find yourself traveling by bus of train alot so bring books to kill time. and deffinetely bring a camera, you'll have so many sights you'll want to remember

i hope this gives any insight and thanks! i enjoyed anwering! to learn more visit this website

My husband has been to South Korea several times. He said that the winters are very cold. Summer and fall is rainy. You will need a Parka or very warm coat. The Koreans are offended by risque clothes and don't care for tank tops and shorts. He wore jeans and tee shirts and business casual clothes. If you are going over as a military member most bases have gyms. He is not sure what the gyms are like off base.
If you are not going to have access to a military base there are several American things that you will not be able to get. Once you get there and have a feel for the land you may need to have someone send you a care package with those food items you miss if you will be there a while.
