Being active duty, and seeing Iraq really not going well at all, and North Korea and Iran now starting to kick up dust. Are we spreading our military too far from home? It just seems like a crazy time in history for us and the world.

We are stretched at capacity. However if someone does something really stupid... Like nuke Seattle, we could easily get plenty of volunteers.. or draftees if necessary, and have a bigger Military.

- Oh, and there have been actual attempts to bomb Seattle in the last 4 years!

You are right. The US seems to want to take the lead as the world's policeman, while other countries who maybe should step up to the plate don't, but also there are times when the US should just mind its own business...It appears now it will be harder and harder to get recruits after this last war in Iraq....dont worry too much about North Korea...the troops there on the border are more than sufficient....the problem with the US, they seem to want to protect democracy against other types of regimes, even if the country is lead by a total dictator...It seems the US doesn't learn from the past.

I think that our military is spread too thin, and we will soon be facing a draft. I have believed this from day one, and the current situation only serves to bear this out.

What makes you think that Iraq 'is not going well?'

Iraq is actually going pretty much like other successful counter-insurgency campaigns.
