I was sitting in today had a bunch of youngsters with their parents, celebrating their Grans birthday. I became upset, because my wife died very young and I suddenly thought of the time when my daughter marries and has children, that her mum wont be there to see them.
Was I wrong to get upset? How would you feel under those circumstances?

Not at all. I can't say I know how you feel as am not in that situation, but I reckon I would be upset if I was. It's a very upsetting thing. You will always remember her and on the odd occassion will probably get down about it, but the main thing is to just think of the good times etc, and also to know that she would just want you to be happy and get on with your life etc.
Hope this is of some help

It would be ok to get down in the dumps about something like that, but please tell me you didn't get upset at the party. This was your Grans day. If you felt like you needed some time alone, I'm sure everybody would have understood if you just excused your self for a while. Hopefully you didn't blow up on anybody.

I kinda know what you are talking about, I mean I lost my brother unexpectedly Jan.2 of this year. His birthday will be the 9th of this month. This will be the first year with out him here to celebrate his birthday with us. It is really starting to get to me. He has a grandson that he never got to see. He wasn't here to see his daughter get married, so yes I think I know a little bit of what you are going threw. Just do the best you can with your daughter and enjoy her as much as you can. I'm sure she misses her mom very much too.

Hey, time will heal. Your wife will always be with you, and IN your child. She will always remember her mom through photo's, videos, etc, her memories, and YOU. And she will tell her children all about their gran. You sound like a real good Dad.

Of course you weren't wrong to get upset. That is perfectly understandable.
